Reflecting on his time at Bucks, Ray said:
‘It is never too late to learn. Graduating with a MA gave me renewed confidence. Whatever stage in your career, you need to refresh your academic and practical skills. The Lecturers and in particular the Course Leader Dr Ali Bakir encouraged all the students and I was not in any way downgraded because I was a Mature Student.
My main advice to students is; Believe in Yourself. You are then unbeatable.
You will be so strong that you will have the confidence to overcome all obstacles. Do not get depressed by set backs or a bad mark ! It is not the end of the world. Try and try again and do not compare yourself to other students.
Whatever career you aim for one thing is certain – you will fail if you do not develop Interpersonal Communication Skills. Team work brings success and you need to learn how to lead and motivate people.
My business philosophy has been: Total Involvement, Total Understanding, Total Commitment.
In modern day parlance this means; make sure you consult regularly with your staff, make sure they understand their individual Roles, Responsibilities and Actions within the Corporate Plan, make sure that everyone pledges their support for the Business Plan.
Finally, remember that you cannot fulfill your ambitions if you do not maintain a healthy lifestyle. This is my best advice to current and future students of Bucks New University.’
